Mom and Dad are waiting for me to be born. They were supposed to go in on Monday May 23 and then again on Tuesday May 24. However, this was a very popular week and there weren't any beds for mom! She thought it was funny that there weren't any beds at the inn. I had already canceled my online service so I was annoyed that I wasn't moving out just yet. All packed up with no place to go.
Mom was excited to finally meet me but was really scared about being induced. I kept trying to tell her it'd be ok but I guess she doesn't understand Morse code. It's on my to-do list of stuff to teach her.
Mom and Dad got the call on Weds morning that a bed had finally opened up and to be there at 7:15am. Once they got to the hospital they took a last "before the baby comes" kinda of a photo outside of the maternity ward.
Mom and Dad checked in and Carolyn (the first day nurse") showed them to their room. Mom got the one with the personal Jacuzzi!! I think that the hospital felt badly that they kept having to change the induction date.
They started mom's pitocin drugs and the first of 6 IVs for fluids around 8am. The doctor, Dr. Ofer, came in around 8:30 to check Mom. She was 2cm dialated and Dr. Ofer assured us all that they would make sure that we did everything possible to make sure we could avoid having to have a C-Section. I know I was happy to hear that because I sure as heck didn't want to get cut accidentally!
Around 2:00 Mom decided to finally get the epidural. Not really sure why she waited so long, but I know Dad and I were happy she finally decided to get it!
The nurses kept telling Mom and Dad to rest and relax because it was going to be a long night.
Around 9:45pm, Dr. Ofer came in to check Mom again and she was finally 10cm and was ready to start pushing. I was happy to hear that even though I know Mom was really scared.
I arrived at 12:35am on Thursday, May 26. The same day as my cousin Ryan's 1st Birthday! It's going to be neat to have the same birthday as my cousin.
After I was all cleaned up, Dad got to cut my umbilical cord and then I went over to say hi to Mom. For some reason she seemed like she was in a lot of pain. We were both very happy to finally meet!
Mom asked the nurses if I could meet my grandparents as well before I got shuttled off to the NICU for my glucose testing. The nurse went to get them out of the waiting room. They came in to say hi and took a lot of pics of me. Everyone got to hold me for a few minutes and that was nice. Then the NICU nurse came in and said that I had to go now. The delivery nurse fought with the NICU nurse so that my grandparents could say hello for a few minutes longer.
After that, I was wisked away to the NICU for 6 hours so they could monitor my glucose and make sure that mom's gestational diabetes didn't make me sick. (it didn't by the way).
Mom and Dad had to stay behind but they came at 4:00am to see me. I was so tired after working so hard to be born that I was too tired to nurse. Mom and Dad went back to their room to rest and wait for me.
