Saturday May 28 - Going Home Day!

Today I woke up VERY excited. Today I was finally going to be able to go home!

Mom and Dad woke up, fed, burped and changed me. The nurses came in after I had been fed (they're finally figuring out I don't want to be alone away from Mom and Dad for too long.

A few minutes after I went back to the nursery for the Pediatrician, Dr. Dobos to check me out, Mom and Dad got their special going home breakfast! Champagne, eggs (omelette style), a hash brown, juice and did i mention Champagne? Mom was so excited about the champagne she didn't really care about the kinda ick eggs.

Dr. Dobos, after he checked me out, went to see Mom. He said that i was perfectly healthy. I had passed my hearing, vision tests and got a 9 and a 9 (out of 10 total points) for the APGAR test. Mom asked about the little scabs on the back of my head. He said that it was nothing to worry about but to call / come back in if more popped up.

After breakfast, Dad worked on packing up the car while Mom fed me. While she was feeding me, one of the lactation consultants from the hospital came in to see how the whole thing was going. Mom said that it was going ok. Then, the lactation consultant asked if i could be the star for the 10:30am breastfeeding class!! Mom was excited about that! She said yes of course. Mom then worked on picking out an outfit for me to wear. It was tricky because she brought 3 total outfits, a really small one, a normal size newborn one and a larger size outfit in case I already got Dad's height genes. Mom and Dad decided on the pink outfit with little pink elephants. Dad picked this out out himself and I was happy that Mom decided to go ahead and use that one.

10:30 came around and it was time for my debut. Dad held me during the breastfeeding class and then when they were done talking about the boring stuff like diapers, swaddling and the importance of breast feeding, it was finally time for the star - me!

The lactation consultant showed everyone how to give a newborn a bath and the order to do things in so that various body parts wouldn't get cold while being washed. During the bath i let out one of teradatyle cries and a lower chin quiver. Once i was all dried, the consultant put on the pink outfit with the tiny elephants and the little mitton shields. The shields are so that I don't scratch my eyes or my face. After I was all dressed and everything the class was over. Mom got the whole class on video, which i'm sure she'll show everyone!

Mom and Dad went back to the room to finish packing, change my diaper, re-put on my clothes and to run out of that hospital! The consultant came to the room to say bye and gave us an extra nipple shield to use when nursing.

We were finally ready to leave! Dad carried me out in the car seat. After everything Mom has been through, she got a pass :D.

Before we got in the car, Mom and Dad each took photos standing next to the entrance maternity sign. Once the millionth photo opp was done, we finally went to the car.

Dad strapped me in the car and Mom sat in the back with me. She pointed out the various stuff that we saw, but I was too busy sleeping to really care!

When we pulled up to the house, there were pink balloons on the mailbox! Mumsie and Lita put them up and i was so excited about it! Nana was at the house as well to great me. She brought Mom and Dad some pre-cooked meals, salads and sandwiches.

Nana couldn't stay long and I was getting ready to breast feed again. Mom and Dad just relaxed and Dad tried to get Mom to take her pain pills but she's silly and thinks everything is at a pain threshold of 2... then it gets really bad and she's miserable.

Dad has been taking such good care of Mom and he made a cheese and bacon quiche. It was delicious (at least that's what they told me).

after dinner, diaper changes and swaddling, it was finally time to go to bed. Unfortunately, I had work to do and this meant that Mom and Dad weren't sleeping either! I decided to cluster feed on Mom so that her milk supply would come in. I ate and ate and ate from about 10 pm to 3am. I had to do this to help Mom get her milk in.I know she was unhappy about it, but it had to be done.

G'night!
